๐ŸŒง๏ธ ISLE OF SKYE TOURIST BOARD โ€” VISITOR GUIDANCE No.87

WEATHER - Visitors are reminded that Skye has weather. Quite a lot of it. Sometimes several different kinds within the same ten minutes. Please do not ask a local: โ€œDo you think itโ€™s going to rain?โ€ It is! A more useful question is: โ€œFrom which direction?โ€ Waterproof clothing is strongly recommended. Umbrellas are most definitely not! On Skye, an umbrella is less a form of weather protection and more a short-distance aviation device. Think โ€œKite with a handle attachedโ€ If you can see the Cuillins clearly, rain is probably approaching. If you cannot see the Cuillins, it has already arrived. Occasionally the sun will appear without warning. Please remain calm. Do not waste time looking for your sunglasses. It will have gone by then. Visitors should also be aware that the phrase โ€œItโ€™s brightening upโ€ does not necessarily mean conditions are improving. It simply means somebody has identified a slightly lighter shade of grey. Finally, there is no such thing as bad weather on Skye. Only inappropriate clothing. โ€ฆ.and occasionally horizontal rain. - Isle of Skye Tourist Board "All 4 seasons in one lunch break"
